Overview
A port-services company commissioned a new harbour tug from a local yard and asked MARS to supply the complete twin-engine propulsion package: two V12 marine main engines, two heavy-duty reduction gearboxes, and the associated control and exhaust components.
Challenge
Tug duty means long periods at high load, frequent manoeuvring, and full reversals. The gearboxes had to deliver high thrust capacity and reliable clutch engagement, and the entire package had to be delivered as a matched set with consistent documentation for classification review by the yard.
